exploding mesh in zbrush?

hi all!

I haven't been on in a while. I'm taking another crack at next gen character modeling and sculpting.

When I'm making a gun or something I explode the mesh before baking it. For characters, do I need to explode the mesh before putting it into Zbrush? Or can I explode it in Zbrush after I finish the sculpt?

thanks so much!

if you have different objects in max/maya, when you bring it into zbrush they will all be separate subtools, which you can hide or unhide at your own will, no need to explode it.. really no need to explode a character ever.

in regards to doing explosion baking, something you may want to give a try is having the pieces you would normally explode have different material IDs, then inside the projecting options (for max) you can tell it to hit only matching material IDs. that way you can keep everything together for AO purposes, and not have to worry about cages intersecting.
