File properties question

So 2 days ago I encountered some kind of ad/malware and did a system restore to a few days previous. I played one of my games on my laptop here and noticed a lot of colors were missing and the menus were bright purple, etc serious graphical issues. So then I was creating a new map for that game in the editor and when I went to save it said it couldn't find the folder. So I went to the directory and looked at the folders and they're all greyed out, meaning they are hidden I think. I right-clicked and set the property to not hidden and did apply and then well the folder is still hidden! What is that about?

I'm assuming Maya is messed up too so I'm worried about modeling.

How do I make all my files on my laptop un-hidden?? I am only user and admin.

While in a folder, press alt to reveal the menu at the top.

Go into Tools > Folder Options > View tab > click 'show hidden files, folders and drives

That is already selected.

I mean that I go to properties like I said and make it un-hidden, leave the folder and come back to it and it's still hidden.

If you have malware get some anti malware software and scan your system with it.

There's a good chance that just doing a system restore hasn't gotten rid of the malware.
