Hey Polycount!

I'm working on a low poly model based on an old toy pistol... (The reference is reflected because I felt more comfortable modeling it in that direction. :P)

I wanted to create a prop that could be held by a character and be detailed enough to be part of a medium close up or even a cut-in, roughly XBox 360 quality. I gave myself a poly budget of roughly 3k tris. Here's my work so far...

(The thick edges on the grip are just creased for zBrush purposes.) I've preeetty much got the topology done, but I'm considering switching things around a bit. Like I said, I'd like to keep it below 3k tris, I'm at 2978.

I'm thinking of simplifying the cylinder, perhaps by leaving the chambers for normal mapping instead of having them modeled the way they are. That would free up some tris for adding geometry to the grip and trigger guard.

What do you guys think? Crits extremely welcome!

    If this is a low poly model, that won't be subdivided then I have some tips for the topology, for optimizing mainly. Here's a quick Photoshop edit.

    The smoothing should come out fine since it's on co-planar surfaces
