Error when applying Skin modifier in Max

This is a new one on me. When I apply a Skin modifier to a model of mine, I get this popping up. I've tried merging to a new scene, restarting, all the usual stuff and I still get it. Even made a simple model and tried skinning that and got the same thing. I'm using Max 2011. We did have power issues last week and my comp got reset, and on the restart I got a blue screen, but it had been fine after running an error check.

Any ideas?

You should try to reinstall max and look if it works again, or revert back your system to a date before you had power issues.Seems like some registry entries are corrupt.

Maybe it´s enough to do a repair install(not sure if there is this option in the 3dsmax installer)it should repair corrupted registry values and other fancy stuff.
