Yeah, so I had some time over at work last week, so i made this gun. About 4-5 h of work or something like that, just for fun. :] Only sub-d, can give it some zbrush love I guess, for the leather grip etc, but it was mostly for fun.
Dude that's a kick ass freakin High Poly. That thing has more detail in one gun than I have in an entire one of my steampunk vehicles I made. Can't wait to see how this bakes. EPIC so far man

haha, shhh! Actually, they have belts like that on the hammberburst rifle and the gorgon burst pistol So I can blame them! But seriously though... belts are awesome ^^
nice rendition of it. i agree that it does look like the spiker from halo, but still. its badass. did u use reference? ive seen some pretty nice concept art out there for that gun.
Wow, 4 to 5 hours of work? This is pretty fuckin' wicked. I like the idea for the stitched leather and the belts they give it a little more personality.
If you don't mind could you post a wireframe? I really would like to see how this was put together.
Nice looking pistol dude. I love the leather grip and that front roll bar thing. The belts are pretty cool but the one on the blade kills me. Not only is it like buckling itself to itself, it is also pulling across the sharp edge of the blade :poly124:. But I know you just can't help yourself, haha. I anxiously await the texture wips.
Yeah, nice work as always man! I too am interested about your workflow, because unless you don't sleep, you sure are making a lot of art in a short period of time.

I am thoroughly disappointed with this. It has nowhere near the requisite amount of Epic Games Superfluous Detail 5000 ® I've come to expect from Gears of War and other associated titles. I do hope you're at least going to give it a predominantly brown texture with brown highlights and a bit of brown grunge to offset the fact that it's terribly lacking in overzealous application of greebles, nurnies and completely misused ZBrush scratches, dings and nicks.
Thanks for the comments. My highpoly workflow was pretty straightforward with this gun. Made a quick concept on paper, and started blocking it out. After that its just to keep on bevelling ^^

The textures are looking pretty sweet man, but its a little overboard on the noisey detail imo, even for a Gears of War type asset. Like I know those are leather straps on the gun, but they aren't really reading as leather atm. And the one red tube going to the glow bit, looks like it has ice on it.
But... Nicely done regardless, and damn you are quick!

BradMyers82: Hmm, maybe they are. Yeah, that area with the red is specular going a bit too crazy, might have to tone that down. Laso the leather got some funky specular going on, might be whats throwing you off.
