restoring symmetry in zbrush

I was playing with zbrush 3.1 using zspheres. I was posing my spheres and at one point or another screwed up and turned off x symmetry and then did a change and then after that that well x symmetry didn't work anymore. Is there an easy way to restore symmetry at this point?

I tried using smart resym by turning on adapting skin and masking half the model, but that didn't work. I resorted to deleting half the model in zbrush then by hide half of it. Then I decided to clone and mirror it. This is where I got stuck since I'm not sure there is a way to weld these to pieces together. I wanted to avoid going to my 3d program and do this to save time. I was wondering about this.

Is there a way to collapes a sub tool to one tool? Is there a way to weld verts inside of zbrush. Is there a way to restore symmetry to a zpheres quickly?

Thanks in advance.
