DPI resolution question

I have a pretty good idea of sizing my maps and where I want to use them.

I am little lost if I should create everything at 72 dpi or increase the resolution to say 150 dpi or higher.

I guess what I am trying to figure out is if I am better off starting higher with a 1024x1024 map will it be better or just stick to 72 dpi cause it doesnt matter.

Any clarification would be appreciated.

as far as textures are concerned DPI does not mater, leaving at the default of 72 will be fine. The only thing that matters is size of your image in pixels. so a 1024x1024 image at 72 dpi will be the same texture as 1024x1024 image at 150 dpi.

Thanks for the reply that clears it up for me. I was getting a lil spun out on this issue since I have been printing a lot of stuff for my Painter class.

Yeah, for games you can just completely disregard DPI like tinman said.
