Just wondering if there are any tutorials, or any tricks to texturing intersecting planes that will have alpha mapping like in my Smoke Elemental's base.

I don't know of any specific tuts for this, but I don't think it's be too much different than texturing any other plane that has alpha'd parts. The only thing I can think of is that if you're trying to use multiple planes to look like a 3d object, like a cloud of smoke, then maybe having the part of the texture that intersects with the other planes match up to the textures of those other planes. So that the texture of one plane sorta flows into the other plane, will help to make it mot look like multiple planes but as one object.

Ran in to this with one of my earlier models. Its a lot of trial and error. You can also take a 3D painting program and mark down on your model with (as an example) a bright green brush where your planes intersect - this way you know where to paint.
