"Transfer" animation of proxy rig to the high res rig.

Hello!
Just downloaded the Deadpool rig by Kiel Figgins which came with a high res and low res(proxy) rig. Animating with the high res model caused my framerate to drop significantly so I had no other choice but to animate on the proxy rig which probably is recommended anyways.
So my questions is, how would I have my animations made on the proxy rig play on the high-res one?
I have tried searching through google/youtube and ended up creating a reference and add a proxy to it. I could change between the high res rig and the proxy rig but the animation on the proxy rig would not show up on the high res rig. So I assume im doing something wrong.
Any help appreciated.
