I found the concept for this craft on Art Station page, concepted by Bryce Homick. I instantly fell in love with it's design and knew i had to make it.. I will try to keep the shape as similar to the concept as possible but ultimately this project is to learn about modeling with floaters and decals.
I finished the blockout over the weekend and did quick renders in mamoset. Weighted normals gave the edge a nice highpoly look
Greetings @PinkSloth and welcome to Polycount! Nice to see a fello Vancouverite and VFS alum too. Ship looking real nice - is it going to be for real-time/game geo? How bout the surfacing, will it retain the same toon look as the concept. Keep it up!
Hey Domslice, nice to meet you, and likewise it's good to see another VFS alumni. Yes, the ship is going to be mid-res game ready geo and the texturing is going to be toon stylized PBR. The end goal is to acheive something like this: https://sketchfab.com/models/9ae1ab75f5a64d16b11371913fc932e9 Lots of floating geo decals and tiling textures.
PatrickSF, i went for the angled look because i felt it looked more aggressive and more racer like. But yes, i would love to make the other one as a skin too! Btw, i'm a fan of your work, ARC level 5 looks sick!
And i am done.. this was a good learning experience overall, i touch substance designer which i was scared of for so long and realized Quixel is easier to use than i thought! For the next project i want to tackle an environment piece with the use of this technique in unreal engine.
