Answered: 3DO2 crashes when started in ver. 2.3.0 and newer
I recently upgraded from ver.2.0ish to the newest ver. 2.3.1
With the new version I can’t start 3Do2 anymore. It always crashes with an error message and asks if I want to debug.
I’ve done some research and have run the suite and PS as admin – didn’t work.
Also in the FAQ there is a 3Do bug mentioned that sounds similar. It says that the problem is most likely corrupted PS preferences and that PS should be re- installed. Well I didn’t do that because my PS is setup just fine but I removed the PS pref files so that it defaulted to factory settings - didn’t help either.
I also de-installed and re-installed the suite. 3Do still keeps crashing at startup.
Then I
rolled back to version 2.2.2 and voila 3do2 works just fine. For this reason I
think that the problem isn’t the PS prefs because it works with 2.2.2. with the same PS prefs.
So there seems a problem with 3Do2 starting with version 2.3.0. As described 3Do2 crashes when it is started. The problem is not present in ver. 2.2.2. and earlier.
My system settings are:
Win7
16GB RAM
Radeon HD 6900
PS CS 5 Extended
The suite isn’t installed on C: because I have very limited space on that drive.
I just wanted to bring this to your attention. Hopefully it can be fixed.
