Changing color of selected faces in 3ds max?

Hello all. I'm trying to work on a different color scheme for 3ds max and I'm having difficulty changing the color of selected faces. Whenever I try, it only changes the color of the edges of the faces and not the faces themselves. How do I get it to change both?

I've tried that and it does not work.

But the issue is happening on both my work machine and my home machine.

At work, I have 3ds Max 2014 and Windows 7. At home, I have 3ds Max 2016 Student and Windows 10. I'm not sure what kind of service packs I have, but I'm pretty sure I should be up to date on both of them.

Works for me too. 2016,17,18. There is also an Apply colours now' button. Don't even need a restart. That 1 setting should be for all subobjects.
