Agency Arms Glock19 (WIP Thread)

Hi Guys,

i finished the Tactical Revolver and now im starting a new project.
I was a bit scared because of all the cuts the AA Glock 19 Slide has, but i like the design of the AA-G19 so much that i must model her! Its also a great exercise for me to push my noob skills.

After about 2 Days and Nights "Zombie Modeling Mode" ^^ headache, and a face of death XD i call the for me heaviest part of the gun done:

I will model Internals but only for animation purpose. Unvisible stuff will not be modeled.
I also dont want to make use of Dynamesh because i have no time pressure and i like to have 100% control over my topology and support edges.
So for now everything done in max.

Didnt know the company "Fowler Industries" until you told me. Looks like there is a big competition going on when it comes to weapon customization.

Small Update. Fixed a lot of proportions, i updated the battleplate with the american flag and i modeled the barrel.

Yeah sure

There are still  things left to model and there is always something to fix or to update on it...like the barrel, where for example the "A" from the Logo has to go outside and not inside. And stuff like that..yeah ^^ Or the octagonal thingy on the barrel is not one part with the barrel.
Would be funny cause disassembly would not be possible ^^

Added the Extractor, the Backplate and modeled the inside of the slide, so there are no longer holes and the slide is now one closed mesh. The inside walls will steals uv space but maybe i will shrink the density of them down. Or maybe bake the slide seperatly.

Dont overdo the details, less is more. If you throw in crazy unique forms everywhere it just becomes messy and they all lose their importance relatively. Put a few strong ones that take spotlight and not make them all compete. Id take out the side indent below agency, the side and top holes on the front, and put the flag on the front top, its too much at the back. Also dont do 2 kinds of ribbed grip shapes, the back ones are plain rectangular and the front ones are totally different, they should definitely match. This indent on the ejection cover is also just adding noise. Modeling looks very nice tho.

You should post your reference Gazu, I can see Shrike's point but I know you're modeling directly from reference. I think the business will be less of a problem when you add your grip which has a lot fewer details and will balance things out. Modeling is looking really clean. I know that topology must be challenging. Looking forward to your progress.

Hey Shrike! Thanks very much for your critique. Sorry i didnt posted any Reference.
Its actually not my design, Im modeling directly from reference, so all the details are made by them.
Its not a concept gun.

I have much more references on my harddisk but it would blow the thread in the air
And thanks @jackalope yeah, the Frame/Handgrip is less detailed, what will clean things up a bit.
But i really like the Agency Design. I think they did a cool job, thats the reason why im doin this gun here ^^

PS: Its a 17, lol, i used the side ref picture of a 17 and i thought it was the slide of a 19

Here a small Update.
Added the Magwell (Was one of the hardest parts of this gun, lol..OpenSubDiv FTW)

Whats left:
Magazine with Bullet, to finish the trigger, polishing the details...and then MAYBE some attachments.

I like the progress so far. The weird angles and cuts in weapons are what draw me in. They can be challenging to get right sometimes. Keep it up. Can't wait to see this finished up.
