I applied at  Backflip Studios for the position of 3D Character artist on Dragonvale World about 10 days ago. I did get a screening call setup with the art director, but without even starting into that he pretty much let me know that they were looking for someone mid-senior experience for the position. He did say that he was interested in working with me in the future and that he would like to see me reapply when I have more work in my portfolio and cleaner textures with more material readability. He said that he would like to see more of dragons, but go a bit more complicated with them this time, and gave me a reference for what he meant by that. And he also mentioned that he wouldn't mind seeing some human characters as well.

I'm already familiar and used to all the software, and having been working with 3d for more than 4 years now(I turn 20 this year). So I'm not too worried about that getting in the way of getting work done, and I don't currently have much work on my plate from freelance, so I have pretty much a fully open schedule to get everything done in. I have about a month window that I would like to be ready to reapply(or at least let him know the progress I've made to keep the conversation and doors open) and show that I'm really dedicated and passionate to get the job. Courses I'm going to be working through during the next 1-2 weeks are the following:

https://cubebrush.co/my_library?product_id=jjalca   (Stylized Creature Sculpting in ZBrush - 3dmotive)
https://cubebrush.co/my_library?product_id=qt8ow (3D Hand-painted Character For Games - Marc Brunet)
https://cubebrush.co/my_library?product_id=1ztdpw (PBR Character For Games - Marc Brunet)

If any of you guys have any courses that were really helpful for you Please let me know, I would love to take a look at them.

So after I complete those, I should have 2 human characters (1 pbr, 1 handpainted), and a level-up in sculpting stylized creatures. When I did the dragons on my portfolio those took me 3 days to complete 2(gift dragon). Since I would like to have a bit more detail and cleaner textures I'm expecting about 2days/character max/14days = about 7 characters + the 2.5 from the courses should land me with 10 fresh characters to show the Art Director. This would be my job in a studio if I can make it.

I would love to know if anyone has any feedback on if this is a workable plan, and any tips would be incredibly helpful.

Also here is my portfolio, I know it is a bit bland at the moment, I wasn't 100% prepared for when the job opened up and I didn't want to miss the opportunity.
