Hi Guys,
I started to work on a Dwarf Slayer from Warhammer universe during my spare time. Here is the progress so far. I only work on it 1h/day so the progress will be super slow but anyway !
Every critics and comments are more than welcome ! I want to build a really solid portfolio piece and apply all what I learn since I work in the game industry: real time, as much realistic as possible, posed. This guy will be a challenge but also a nice piece with the hairs and fur, the skin, the anatomy and the hardsurface pieces.
Here is my first WIP ( hairs are just placeholders )

@Jordan Best
thanks for this very good point ! One of my friend helped me to fix the general proportions and the neck/traps area.
Here is some new progress after few hours of work.
some more progress after a few hours of work. I keep working on the anatomy ( Hands and feets still need a ton of work ). Worked on the beard and started some placeholder/blockout for the armor
Thanks man ! I did a bread basemesh in max ( 3 pieces like a real one) and then it's all hand sculpted, mostily with the Standard and the Orb_Crack (from @Orb ) brush :-)
Critics and comments are welcome as usual !
@lotet Thanks I'll definitly refine and work in a clean way for the hard surface. my zbrush scene is a blockout and the armor is here for placeholder mainly.
not sure how the wrapping on the handle for the big axe works from a practical standpoint, but it looks cool
Let's say he wrapped the handle with leather and then pin a lot of runic metal pieces to give him more strenght during the fights ! and the pins avoid his sweaty hands to drop it
Some progress:
-I worked on the body, refining the feets and the hands. I'll add wrinkles, veins and all the details after the retopology.
-I finished the highpoly of the small axe(s)
-I started working on the props, and I am done with the lower body. Still didn't really decided how I'll do the clothes part. With or without fur, which material and which color I'll use.
Colors/materials are still flat from zbrush at this stage
I tried to make a render of it, not my best skill Tell me what you think about it !
@Optimus Don't worry, the final lowpoly will be rigged and posed and obviously he will handle those axes !
@dGreenberg Thanks man! Actually for the hairs I am still unsure about keeping those meshes for the lowpoly model, or go full alpha cards.. I'll see how it goes
really like the style, well done!
And the stylise hair looks really good for me!
Keep it up !
