Welcome to the
Concept Thread for the next Monthly Environment / Prop Challenge!
We had a great turnout last Challenge - each month I think we have more participants, and most importantly, more finished pieces! You guys n gals continue to impress It's time for our round of voting for March and April - just to clarify, this thread will be replaced by the official WIP / Challenge thread on March 1st, once the vote count is in and the concepts have been selected.Below I've selected a few Environments and Props to get us started. Per community request,
each Challenge will offer two environment options and two prop options - 1 hand-painted and 1 realistic / hard surface each. Please feel free to vote for your favorites or add your own selections to this thread. Remember to vote by posting the concept(s), that you would like to see for the next challenge as a reply to the thread.
Even if you aren't participating in the challenge, feel free to vote!

Colin GIf you aren't satisfied with the concepts provided for this month,
feel free to add your own! We are completely open to people posting their own concepts, but keep in mind that the difficulty level has to be that of which can be completed in
two months' time for the environment, and one month's time for the prop! The winning concepts will be chosen on the day of the next monthly challenge.I am looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with this month, cheers!

i'm a bit more the scifi-guy, so i would vote for the gun and the laboratory, but the chinese story looks interesting as well. the hammer is a little boring
I think it would make a good piece for using/learning some modern modelling and texturing skills (e.g. use of substances, mid-poly/weighted edge modelling) - and I'm also more into SciFi
I would also say the Hammer is a little bit simple, but this specific turret is also a piece we saw to often (I think).
I would like to see a new, little more blocky/funky turret e.g.:

or

This kind of more comic-style concepts would allow people to approach the prop in different styles (realistic, stylized etc.)
Each Challenge will have a total of 4 concepts: 2 "Hard Surface" and 2 "Haind Painted" - 1 Prop and 1 Environment each
This was by community request when we revisited the Challenge guidelines a few months back to accomodate as many art styles as possible - we want as many participants as we can of course
So feel free to vote on up to 4 items - 2 Props (one hand painted, one hard surface) and 2 Environments (one hand painted, one hard surface)
Lastly, we had a great turnout last month with some "easier" props. I took the approach of less cluttered / prop-filled environments and straightforward modeling / texturing this round in the hope that we'll have more people finish environments this Challenge.
Of course, the votes will ultimately decide!
thank you guys for the feedback!
