The lord of the beasts ( Beast Challenge )

Hi guys,

It's been a while since I finished the lowpoly and baking step for this guy for The Beast Challenge. So I decided to give him a little push and start texturing him. The tricount budget was 100k tris and I'm right now around 65k plus the hair I will add at the final step, I will be really near of it.

First of all I will try to block out all textures to finish the first pass.

Little update with some wood... not too much...




My quadro 600 cries with Substance Painter so texturing is a really ass pain...

Nicely executed but I'm not a fan of the design, especially the silhouette and internal shapes. Soft armour pieces are radical.

I love this character, he's so cool. From the facial expression to all the small details you've added. My one suggestion might be to break up the symmetry (difficult to do at this point now that it's textured and UV'd), and possibly add some pops of contrasting colour to draw the eye - though I love the uniform "purple-y-ness" you've chosen as your pallet.
