How should a mesh with a tiled texture occupy UV space?

Let's say I have a really long wall that will use a tiled texture. If I put the whole thing in the 0-1 space, it's TINY. Does this matter? Any considerations? Should it instead try to ill the 0-1 space vertically, then run outside of it horizontally?
