Instead of spamming with new threads all the time, I thought it'd be better to just have one thread to update when I attempt new projects. Currently working on a Tomb Kings Pole Arm thingo. Struggeling a bit with texturing (as usual). Need to get that ware on the paint looking like the concept. Might just have to go in by hand and paint it in.
Also metal is the devil.
I want it to look old but not used and abused. More of a weapon that was buried that hasn't seen combat just yet.

a few weeks. It should have taken a lot less to complete though, had life getting in the way of my 3d time haha
Calling this done, thanks to the dudes on slack for the feedback. Still keen to take on board any crits. Now the hardest part. Figuring out what to do next.
I have an itch to get in to Zbrush more (as I am terrible) and modeling up some damage on the walls of this would be great. The only issue I see is the hieroglyphics might be an issue as well as the roof. Positioning a the camera might be tricky for a good render.
This one I really dig as well. Would be great to do some wood work. There are a bunch of varied props too to build and I could have some light pierce through some cracks in the walls, giving off a cool look. The curtains could be a bit interesting to tackle and apart from just above, I've never made a skull or human forms so that will be an issue.
I got both of these from FZD School website, I couldn't see who the actual artist was though which was weird.
Very early days for this. Glass is going to be a bit tough to pull off I think.
What software do you use for modeling,texturing and render the scene ?
I guess, 3ds max - Substance Painter and Unreal 4
Can we see the geometry ?
Thank you!
@czepta
The label does need a bit more loving to . I'm going to add a few more masks on it to hide the digital-ness of the label. Thanks for the feedback!
@Poinball
Thanks for the nice words, I use Maya/Zbrush/Substance Painter and putting it in UE4.
Be geo did you just want to see the wires? Nothing crazy about the shapes yet. All kinda basic.
Got the globe done, 98% hate the globe texture though, need to work that through.
just bleh
Added some more wood bits to the scene. Sneaky globe in the background.
The water (WIP, pretty much drag and dropped it in) makes the glass dirt reflect which is cool. Having some issues with the metal though, the cross part is the same material as the downward metal but for some reason they appear differently.
And finally built the book shelf, it needs to be shrunk down a smidge though.
I've got the treasure chest, the other table thing and the stair case left. As well as a skull, which will be interesting as I am so bad at that sort of thing.
Think I might add in some wanted posters or framed pictures to the walls to break up the emptyness. Will add in papers and litter too on the floor.
Keen for feedback and tips.
I also get that weird light bleed you can see on the left side, not sure how to get rid of it, there is no gap there.
Think I will do a few tweaks and just call it done. Next thing I will do is a small prop. Something with a faster turn around.
Moving on now, I want to do a ruins style scene but I want to do a small prop first something scifi. The hardest part is finding some good concept art haha
The Owen Sub Machine Gun. An Australian gun that was used during WW2 and through the Vietnam war.
It's a weird looking gun. Just started blocking and adding small details.
Any hoo looking forward seeing the gun!
There were a few methods I tried but ultimately went with a smoothed cube and using a cubed world texture and just pushing the uvs in to place.
I had someone show me how to do it by using a sphere, cutting it in half, then in photo shop using the polar coordinates to make the texture fit the UVs. This seems like the better way but I couldn't get the textures to line up perfectly. Kind of like this http://www.bluesubstance.com/photoshop/polar_02.htm
I gotta pick more main stream guns, struggling to find some good images of the sights and a few other things.
Was thinking that I should try and revisit a scifi scene, might do some small props first though. Really not sure when I should start trying to apply for junior entry level stuff, or how much better I need to get. Obviously still have lots to learn and get better at.
