[ Maya LT 2016/2017 ] Preserve uvs gets extremely skewed?

Hey guys,
I can't remember this happening to me in the regular non LT version of Maya, and looking around I can't seem to find anyone that complains about it :)
I use preserve UVs quite a lot to do little fixes on meshes before sending them out, and ever since I've started working with LT, when I move vertices in viewport with preserve UVs on, I get very skewed results in the layouts. There's no errors popping up in the script editor (this is not the can't preserve uv's error popping everything back up to original position.)
For example, let's say this is the original layout 

After moving verts in the viewport just a tiny bit this is what happens

Quite frustrating to have to move the verts in viewport with preserve uv's off and then fix it everytime in the editor for something that used to just...work?
