Background:
With all the recent boom about ww1 I wanted to re-create the famous jet packs of wwi, with whom the wwi would never had ended. I've been designing the thing for long(between freelances) and now that I'm in the "fast part"(finishing high-low-bakes-textures) I'll try to show my progress. As my previous stuff the style is realistic-pbr and since it's portfolio I'm going crazy with mesh textures and details. I hope DICE add jet packs in the new release...
Screenshots(work in progress, some parts are very very wip):
At this point I'm an internet expert rocketeer, this is how the fuel and oxidizer go through the pumps into the combustion chamber.
Full jetpack, now it looks cartoony(colors), just because it's the high only and wip parts.
One of the rules it's that all the pieces should be as realistic as possible, they are still going thought zbrush for some more organic variation.
ps: I know that the war wasn't won because of the jet packs.. it's a joke. The soldiers did... with help of the jetpacks.
If you have any insight now it's the time! Starting with zbrush today.

Actually the one right top it's a V2 and middle top and u-boat(ww2) the rest I belive it's ww1, some mark v interiors
More updates, bought some days ago(it had a discount) a scan of a soldier so I could adapt him on the scene, basically it was an actual soldier so the cloth was too thin, and too many backpacks. Also now I added the highs baked on the low polys, 0 bakes errors at the first try!(if you see anyone just pm )
So here is the wip, no textures yet, only some of those with nrm and ao.
and the baked pieces:
@JoshuaG Actually I forgot that some pair of wings could be useful...
@MaxHoek yeah I scribbled first, while I was looking videos of how fuel rockets work I did some doodles that thankfully look quite close to the 3d one.
So, I worked more the leather strips and added more detail.
Later I did the bakes and started the textures of the leather strips and the tanks. All that it looks like without texture is because it's without texture
@The Rizzler Yeah, I think that now it's too late for the wings, I can't see where they would fit in this design.
@Snefer haha.. well it's like a lod 0 for cinematics, it has bakes but a high polycount, I can reduce a lot but I want to convince someone to hire me(it's what I tell myself)
So here are the shots, if you like it would be helpful some love here(if you don't like something don't do it): artstation
photos of ww1 jetpacks!
and bonus that it's not on artstation:
That's it, thank you and have a nice day!
