I decided to make a quick thread over the most recent weapon that I've made. This is actually a resurrected old model from a few years ago, but I've completely re-modeled, re-textured, re-rendered everything from the ground up to make use of next-gen techniques, programs and workflows.
The weapon is an old Russian Submachine gun, the PPSh-41.
I have recently been focusing on my texturing skills, and getting more in depth with substance painter. It's an amazing tool, and I'm excited to dive even further on my future projects.
Here are some reference images that I based the gun off of.
Using Substance Painter for not only texturing purposes but for baking too, i was able to get some fairly clean bakes that I was relatively happy with.
I really like this piece, It's very clean. I would say you can push the texture a little bit more with some subtle wear. You can still maintain a clean look while adding some smudge marks, paint variation, and a edge wear (sparingly).
@Deforges@gfelton - Thanks for that feedback! Very true, there's always room for slight edge wear while keeping it clean. I will carry that over onto my next project, appreciate it!
