Pug Knight Character - WIP

Hey people, got inspired by my little pug Polly to do a character, just messing around with the proxies/blockout currently deciding on the final balance and shapes. Going to go for a hand painted chunky vibe I think, but I'll see how it progresses. Any ideas, suggestions or link to inspiration welcomed

This looks cool! I dig the proportions a lot, but IMO they don't fit the character that well at the moment. When I think of Pugs I think of small and cute, these body proportions might work better for a bulldog or staffy, something small but stocky (don't know if that's what your going for though).  With the armour the way it is now, it looks like it might get in the way of lifting the legs, I also think you could make the profile bulkier, but it's difficult to tell without a 3/4 view. Don't really have any other suggestions atm, really excited to see where you go with this.

I hope you don't mind, I did a super quick paintover to show some potential proportion changes. Just personal preference though, feel free to ignore.

Thanks for the descriptive feedback SMILINGMOUNTAIN. Prior to the above pic I did try it with similar proportions but it was very early, my girlfriend said she preferred the bulkier proportions as our Pug is a bit of a brute haha, a dominant bitch xD. But just now mashing the proportions again and I think you're 100% on the ball. 
Still going to mess with it, but it sits a lot better now

No problem at all, Definitely reads more like a pug now to me. My dog is the same, she's a tiny border terrier cross, but she thinks she's a Rottweiler XD

He freaked me out a bit because the sculpt looks like he has multiple eye balls!! And my mind went 'fk spiders!'

This is progressing really nicely. I'm not crazy about the slash across his/her belly. Not sure why, but it looks like a slash taken out of a chunk of rock rather than metal. You could try making it more subtle as it really draws my eye away from the face atm. Really dig the rest of the wear and tear though. I think you could also maybe sharpen up some of the edges on the armor as they look a little too rounded and undefined to me. Just my personal preference though. Nothing else to crit really, looking forward to seeing it finished.

Not updated this thread in a long time, but I've had time to work on this guy recently, currently painting him up. Still need to work on the fur and make a start on the cloak... Sword and shield need a lot of love to. Feedback welcome

Super glad to see the pug getting some love again. It would be really cute if he had some saliva in between his cheeks or something along those lines.
