Mace Windu's lightsaber was lost out of the window in Coruscant at the end of Star Wars Episode III. The story for this lost saber is that it was found by a lower level citizen that finds and sells scrap metal. Over time and without proper maintenance the saber has become unstable and arcs similarly to Kylo Ren's lightsaber in The Force Awakens. The citizen takes care of the blade but doesn't often worry about cosmetic wear and cleanliness.
Crits are of course welcome.
