Hi, Polycounters.
I working on a new project during my lunch break and I need your help.
I want to add some vehicle art to my portfolio and decided to do a
rework of one of my old models: the Steel Lynx II from Shadowrun (http://img09.deviantart.net/…/steel_lynx_ii_by_dethling-d56…)
So I took this model, modified it a little bit and now I'm stuck.
So I ask you for help. What do you think about the general design? how can I improve it? what should I focus on?
Replies
Stylewise I decided to get it a little more stylized (like Overwatch) then real.
I plan to use ndo later to add a few additional indents and panel lines.
I decided to stick to the colorsheme of Bastion.
The black base metal definitly needs some base color adjustments.
Next will be the high poly of the turret (maybe with a rework of the canon) and then the hand painted texture fun starts.
I plan to add additional details with floaters (like at the front wheel) and plan use ndo for additional high poly details.
Comments & Critics?
Will add some panels to the turret

i'd suggest to work on better integration of pieces, don't just put things on other things or stuff them together work on the integration some more
anyway good job
I worked a little bit on the details and did a complete rework of the main gun:
@Neox: what do you mean with "intergration"? More multi-layer details (like panel lines/wholes where parts intersect)?
Next will be some more material work and decals
quick and dirty overpaint, also i would bevel the cornder of that 90° angle on the dark frame
I totally missed this parts in my high poly but already fixed it, now (thanks for pointing it out).
I plan to do a new bake this week, which should include the integration fixes.
For the black frame, I left it on purpose with a sharper edge to get the feeling of heavy, industrial, carrying metal. I think I should add more edge wear to it to make it more visible.
@Somedoggy: Also thanks for the feedback.
I stayed away from additional bolts to give it a more sleak futuristic look. The idea is that the white and green part are molded armor plates which were simply plug onto the frame (maybe hold in place with bolts from the other side).
At the moment I'm really struggeling with the turret design. I tried to get the current design into the same style but it didn't looked that good. So I'm sketching out some turret variants.
If you have any feedback regarding the turret, PLEASE help me.
Decided to move the canon to the middle again and reused some shapes from the lower body:
What do you think about the new design?
What do you guys think?
I still have some problems with the weapon of the drone.
I tried different kinds of weapon sketches (minigun, flamethrower etc.) but at the end I decided to go with some sort of a maschine gun.
At the moment I'm still in the sketch phase to get the forms right and matching the general style to the drone. What do you guys think?

The basic idea for the drone was that this is a predecessor of the Omnic Mechs (like Bastion). As I want a really strong connection to Overwatch I decided to stick to the "Omnic aka Bastion" Color sheme here.
Btw.: Blizzard released some really nice referenz-kits for all their Overwatch characters: http://eu.battle.net/overwatch/de/media/
