Hi gentlemen and my wonderful ladies.

I would love to be helped with a question!

You see i have a fractal design r2 and would love to go for a smaller chassi.
The reason is because i do not want to sell my stationary and get a laptop. Rather just go smaller and take it with me.

I currently have

P9x79
Gtx770
I7 3930k
16 gb vengeance
128 ssd
2 tb wd 5400 rpm

And a fat be quiet dark pro 2.

I'm guessing i have to go for a better cpu cooler but that lies down more than stands up.

But no idea what chassi to go with that works good with a socket 2011.

Well it's going to be extremely hard to find a itx sized motherboard for that processor. There is an itx board for the 2011 v3 socket, if you really want to have a 6 core 12 thread processor, but I'd probably suggest getting a 4790k processor and itx board for it, and keep everything else you can.

I did a mATX build with a 6 core i7 5930k, it's small enough to easily carry under your arm, and you could probably make or find a carrying bag, but a small itx build could easily fit into a backpack. http://i.imgur.com/ZycoUDP.jpg

I used to run an mATX build for a LAN rig and just bolted on a handle from local hardware store to the top of the case and made sure parts inside were secured well, including homemade support for the GPU. Was super mobile, as it was a super compact old school mATX box case. As ZacD has already mentioned, ITX builds can be a pain in the ass. mATX would be easier, as you can just do a motherboard swap instead of a PSU/Motherboard swap (as usual ATX PSU's will not fit most ITX cases) which will both be even more expensive and difficult to find.

There's a decent amount of ITX cases that support full sized ATX PSUs, but only to a certain length. Also when looking at cases, figure out how large they are in volume or litters, different proportions can be really deceptive in size.

Well if one does decide to go with the ITX, Intel was showing off some impressive stuff at Siggraph with just an ITX build and the EVGA Hadron ( http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=110-MA-1001-K1 ). I know Corsair makes one with a handle build into it as well for travel ( http://www.corsair.com/en-us/graphite-series-380t-portable-mini-itx-case )

The Corsair 380T is 41 liters in size, that's pretty big, even my mATX TJ08 is 30 liters. The EVGA Hadron Air is 16 liters, much more portable.

The Hadron has one of the those crazy PSUs with a loud ass 40mm fan.

ITX is an interesting option now though, with the current crop of boards having 16gb dimm support, but the only 2011 socket itx board, has a weird heatsink mount.

Yeah that case is pretty nice, it's basically an mATX version of the NCASE M1, which I really love the look and layout of. It's also 18 liters which is basically the same size as the EVGA Hadron Air, which is an ITX case.

I've been wanting to do a build like the A4-SFX, it's about the size of a Xbox One at 7 liters, the PS4 is 4.5 liters.

It looks cool, but the maker of the NCase, just scrapped their steam machine styled case, because the back of the GPU got super hot due to lacking ventilation. The A4 gpu chamber is pretty similar, but maybe the air being pulled in by the CPU HSF might help move air around.

Sorry but that's the parts i already own. Just want to put them in a smaller case

I mean i do not do any renderings and could probably sell my i7 3930k for something that works better. Any tips is good. One love

Here's your options in my opinion

- Just buy a smaller ATX case, you might find one about half the size of your current case. The Fractal Design Node 605 is $160 and looks like it could work, and is less than half the size of your current one. You might have issue with where you keep your storage and your heatsink's size.

- Buy a Micro ATX socket 2011 motherboard and Micro ATX case. I only see one option on PC Part Picker, for $230 + cost of case https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-rampageivgene

- Buy a different processor and motherboard (probably a i7-4790K and either Micro ATX or ITX) $400 + cost of case.
