Concept Art - where can I get it?

Hi guys. I have, maybe, a silly question but.. Im looking for a place where i can get Concept art for modeling. I mean is it ok to just google "knight concept art", take one you liked and model it? Will you be able to say that you made it? I mean concept was not yours but model is?..
And should I ask first if I can use it for modeling?

Pinterest is a great place to search for concept arts. Follow boards of people who have game art/environment/character/reference images/weapon (whatever you want).

artstation and polycount's 2D art section also has concept art.

and yes you should ask before using any concept art.

Yes you should ask. But I think you'll find in 3D communities (including Polycount) half the people can't even be bothered to credit the original artist, much less ask permission. So if you want to be a douche about it most people here probably aren't going to bat an eye.

Deviantart and cghub use to be my go to for concepts

Now Its DA Artstation Drawcroud and pintrest (in that order)

Yep asking will be nice and when completed link their gallery (to the image you used) in whatever place your displaying it so they also gain attention = win, win.

Don't like to give them that much notice start making your own concepts.
Just saying, you won't have to "spend" time on searching for things when you can make them.

Yeah i was making my own concept but Im not very good at it

Making your own good concept is hard so yeah taking someone else's cool work and trying to translate it as best as you can in 3d it's probably the best approach imo.

Oh awesome. Thanks dimosM. Its a bit hard to contact artist on Artstation cos u know ther eis no contact form or PM. DeviantArt seems to be dying slowly and no one replays... So maybe Ill find some one here so thanks

In terms of asking, yeah its cool to ask the artist for permission but most of the times you won't get an answer because people are busy. So as long as you credit the original artist maybe don't wait for an answer? Most people will be happy to see their work in 3d i imagine...
What i am saying is don't let this limit your options, there are tons of cool concepts out there.

I use artstation but I wish their search function was a little more robust, alot of times I still use the aid of google image.
