Hey guys, so this is my first attempt at baking a high poly mesh onto a low poly! And first time using quad draw which is pretty fun..

The next deal was to unwrap then bake it. What I did was use Lighting/Shading > Transfer Maps. I went through all of that and baked it. Now my low poly mesh has some of the normal placed onto it... but it has the checker map on it too?

I'm wondering how to get rid of the checker texture and just view the normal map on a Phong1 material..? I'm really new to maya in general and unwrapping, any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

If I got your situation right, you can get rid of the checker texture by right-clicking on 'Color'->Break Connection. That is, unless you have baked it together with the normals. Then you'd have to re-bake the normal separately. However, you might also want to right-click on the model and reassign the material to get rid of the green faces (indicating they have no material assigned).
