UI/UX Artist Designer
gumi America, Inc. - Austin, TX

gumi Austin is looking to hire an experienced UI/UX Artist/Designer to help create and implement the user interface(s) of our next big mobile title! This is a hands on role that carries a great deal of responsibility, as you’re effectively the person responsible for how our game communicates and engages with the user as they joyfully tap and swipe their way to victory!

While you’ll be working closely with the Art and Design directors to ensure the user experience is of the highest quality, you’ll be the one responsible for defining the vision for that experience and communicating it to the rest of the team through the use of storyboards, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes. If this sounds like fun, and you’re ready to do the best work of your career, we’d love to hear from you!

Duties
  • Create a UI vision that blends seamlessly with the goals of Art and Design, and delivers an appealing visual look that fully compliments the flow of the game.
  • Design and implement the UI for our next big mobile title, using wireframes, prototypes and polished assets to fully realize the UI vision.
  • Be a fountain of knowledge for the team when it comes to understanding what makes UI work so well in other successful, high performing mobile games.
  • Be flexible when faced with creative/technical issues, and adapt the design accordingly.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of mobile/console games industry experience, with at least 1 title shipped on mobile as a UI/UX artist/designer.
  • Experience with designing and implementing user flows, creating and animating both 2D & 3D assets.
  • A portfolio that shows awareness of the current culture of mobile app and web software design
  • Proven experience with programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Maya at the pixel, icon and polygon level.
  • Talent for design, documentation, prototyping and implementation of complete UI.
  • Ability to work directly with tech; self-motivated and driven to provide quality results.
  • Strong understanding of UI for mobile games, particularly what works and what doesn’t.
Pluses
  • Experience with Unity engine and toolset.
  • Avid mobile gamer who understands what makes mobile games and their audiences tick.
  • Experience creating visual fx in the Unity 3D engine or similar.
  • Please submit a portfolio or show reel and references with your application, as well as a detailed description of the work included.
