Worth a read for anyone new to modeling heads! All the tips here make a lot of sense. This helped me out a lot as an intro to topology when I was starting out.

It kinda skips the ear but this tut by Krishna Costa covers all you need to know. Looks like the screenshot used here is from that tutorial anyways.
Once you've made one you'll never need another (cuz everyone hates doin' ears).
