Problem selecting in orthographic views in Maya LT

For some reason in the fullscreen orthographic view I cannot use the modeling toolkit gizmos.

Works fine in perspective view, works fine in 3 panel view, but does not work in orthographic views.

I select the vertices, then try to select the tool and i just end up in selection mode again.

And this only applies while using modeling toolkit for selecting tools (or with the keyboard). If i click the tools from the panel on the left instead it works fine but only then.

Please help this is killing my modeling time

EDIT: my current solution is turning off modeling toolkit (and it's auto enable) for now so my keyboard shortcuts work.

EDIT2: Actually middle click seems to work fine, so i guess i'll use that in those views.
