Hey guys I'm new around here. I finished University recently so I'm aiming towards a job as a character artist.

This my take of Carl Johnson from GTA San Andreas. He is around the same tri count as Franklin from GTA V.

This CJ is supposed to be during the time period of GTA V which would make him around 45 I believe.

I know it's not perfect, but that's why I'm turning to you for feedback.

Oh yes, i love this!!!!! WHen i get GTA V on Pc i swear im putting him in a as franklin haha. One thing to note is that in the earlier model of CJ i beleive his undershirt is tucked into his boxers. But i dont know if you were going for 100% accuracy, still, amazing job man! this is AAA quality

I actually thought about it but would a 45 year old man tuck his vest into his boxer shorts in this day and age?
If you look closely I actually revealed his boxers slightly but due to the white vest you can't really see it on the image.

ahhhh sick. the denim on his jeans do need work though, they are way to noisy, did you polypaint them on in zbrush? the belt also looks painted on, if it is you could just make it acuall Geo it would look much better, if not idk but it looks really flat so give it more depth, also his arms look a bit strange (but i'm not great with anatomy) . anyway this is a great idea and a great result so far

No I made them in Photoshop but didn't spend long on them. The belt is flat except for the buckle but I was planning on re-making it
I haven't got much experience with rigging so when I posed him it kind of threw the anatomy off. I'm sure that if I get better at skinning to biped then he will look much more natural.

No I used a biped then exported him in parts as an obj to Marmoset 2

uhhh i see, I usually use a Zspheres rig in zbrush, its really quick and effective if your careful, but its down to the individual i guess.. heres a tutorial if your interested

Thanks for the tut. It may come in handy, although rigging to a biped using skin modifier in 3ds Max helps me brush up on my rusty rigging skills when I come to rig him in to GTA IV and eventually V!
