Facial features not animating properly, please help!

Hey guys, ran into a bit of a problem. I've been working on this rig, and for the most part everything is going great. I just need to set up the facial features, which include eyelids and a simple jaw. It works great if I don't rotate anything (see pic one), but as soon as I do rotate the model through animation, it doesn't line up properly because the Z-axis for the object stayed the same even though the object changed locations and rotated (see pic two).

I set this up with a combination of add attribute and set driven key. I'm having the same problem for the eyelids as well, except for those they just jet off in another direction if I try to animate them through the attributes I set up for them.

I've tried parenting to various joints and meshes, deleting history, unbinding and rebinding the to the skeleton, etc. This may be a really simple fix, I'm pretty new at rigging, so please let me know what I can do to fix this or a simpler way I could set this up. Thanks
