I discovered a very funny concept art of an Hot Dog and I must laugh, after i saw the image. I will make this guy alive. I made a few changes for the concept to make it more homogeneous.
My idea for the scene ... He stand on a hill, surrounded by tomato ninjas, and he will fight till death
Here is the concept:
and this is my progress so far:
The model is ready, my next step is the finalisation of the texture.
I work at the texture for the tomato ninjas. I put a noise filter on top of the specular and gloss textures, to make the body of the tomato looks more natural and not so flat.
Have you thought about unifying the characters under a colour tone? They are both very linear RGB, if you pushed it down a pastel tone it could help them bounce of each other. Its probably to early to tell until you get your scene together. But possibly food for thought when you come to polish. Looking forward to seeing the scene come together
These two images are a good example of what I'm talking about.
I've got one nitpick though - and take it with a grain of salt, I do realise you're not exactly going for historical accuracy here or anything - but Hot Dog Samurai's swords are upside-down. Japanese swords are never placed resting with the sharp edge facing down, as that would dull the blade. When placed in a mount or worn in a belt, etc, the blade should always be facing up. Random ref from google - notice how the scabbards are bent. When drawing the sword from the scabbard, the scabbard is tilted outward from the body, and the sword drawn in kind of a slicing motion.
Maybe him barely being able to reach his swords is a bigger concern than him being able to draw them in a correct way, but those are my two cents. Take em for what they're worth :P
Thx Jigsaw for your note
After your post I take a closer look on my work and yeah you are right. I hope that this fakt don't destroy the illusion that the swords have pickles as scabbards
Dude.. I NEED to animate these. Is it possible to get in touch with each other via Skype and talk? Non commercial use. Just for fun/portfolio pieces and you'll get creds for everything except the animation!
finaly I found the time for the rigging and skinning process for my characters. Only the half tomato and the nunchucks are left and then my final image will come

I'd do a simple gradient ramp/ao to create better focal point too. Keep it up!
@sagiarts: Oh nice suggestion, I will do my best
@ESFGames: Thx dude!
@Ootrick: Yes a gradient is a very good idea
The Ninja Tomato
Keep it up. Constructive, the sword texture could use some love.
Thx Torch, I have huge fun with this project

This one doesn't feel like it has a unified pallete or theme.
