Heron Mark Blade

Hey everyone. I decided it would be good practice to make my own design and model of a sword from a book I'm reading (Eye of the World by Robert Jordan).

So far I have the HP and LP modeled, and the normals bake is a work in progress.

I hope to eventually mod this into Skyrim as well. Criticism is appreciated!

Doing a bit of work on textures. This is my first experience with really texturing a game model so if you have any suggestions that'd be great.

great work man. Just to make it more interesting why dont you have abit of blood on it or have it used so chips on the sword and some damage on the handle. Love these swords

Hey saksoy, thanks for the suggestions! The blood will be done automatically in engine so there's no need to add it manually here. I'll definitely look at adding a bit more wear though!

Blood happens only on the blade itself: in the meantime, unless you're aiming for a pristine, polished blade look, turn down the gloss on the blade a bit.

Nice! I'm currently working my way through book 5 of the Wheel of Time (Fires of Heaven). Depending on how much accuracy you're going for, making the blade more worn might not be a good idea. In the Wheel of Time, a Heron-mark blade is a sword awarded to master swordsmen, and the blade itself is wrought with the One Power. It never dulls or wears down, no matter how much it's used.

If you wanted to break from cannon, though, and make it more worn, it would definitely add more interest to the design.

I agree with klamp. Those blade just don't age or chip. However, I seem to remember that the Myrdaal (sp?) blood had to be wiped off or it would etch and eat up the blade. I can't remember if that was only normal blades though.

Not all heron mark blades were wrought by the One Power as I recall, only the very best. I agree on keeping it clean though.
