Little problem in dDo

I'm trying to apply a material detail to the blade of my knife, but it seems like everything I select only wants to affect the edges of it. I cant seem to get anything to apply to the entire thing. I remember from the 2 hour remington chainsaw tutorial he had a "Apply Everywhere" button but I dont seem to see it on mine. Heres a picture of my problem.
