Hi,

I'm facing a haaaard thing : i need to convert a complex illustrator file into some 3D format (in fact, format don't matter, all i need is to convert vector into vertices).

I made a "road map" in illustrator : something like that but plain, bigger and with a lot of "holes" :

I've tried different stuff, but none work great : maya is crashing and modo isn't giving me a good result (would take ages to clean :/) , but i may do the wrong stuff.

Maybe you guys know a perfect program that can achieve what i want ?

Are you importing the illustrator file at once? Or did you split it up into multiple pieces?

I would recommend you to split it up. So you have more control about the result. You cant go away without any tweaking but this would reduce the amount a lot.

How are you importing it in to Maya? Usually saving out an illustrator file with the Japanese Illustrator 3 format gives nice predictable results.

    Pretty much already said:

Split the pieces in a way it´s easier to work inside your 3d package.
I normaly save my files as Illustrator 8 and once inside Maya use import Adobe Illustrator. Then just play with Surfaces.
