So after I saw
this awesome concept on DA, I got a bit excited and made it. I suck at beauty renders, so here's an in-engine shot:
Also did a video of it working in Portal:

I hate texturing, so you may notice that the textures are super lazy. I tried to use the engines shaders to enhance the materials rather than trying to paint it with my meager skillz. Learning I guess. Any thoughts on what I can do better next time? I tend to gravitate towards steampunk which generally means I am texturing brass, and I still haven't quite got the hang of it yet. Any tips for making brass/copper textures look more convincing?

Instead of the antenna (y'know, for the steam motor)
And I miss the egg like shape of the original turret, they looks like if the legs retract it will be a plain white egg with a big red eye. your legs are cool, but lack of a wooden yellow plate.
Also I'm not too sure how to do the edges while retaining the brass material look, since brass is the base metal any colour variation wouldn't really make sense. At least I couldn't come up with anything convincing so I just lightened them slightly. Any ideas on that?
