[Mixamo Contest] - Jayson - Vintage Female Aviator (WIP)

I'm back and with a vengeance New laptop to boot. Initial thoughts are Amelia Earhart or Phileas Fogg. A character based on either. Good luck to all!

The vision: Introducing Adventure Anne, pilot for hire, adventure's the name, excitement's the game. Ideally I'd like to do two characters, Adventure Anne in heroic pose, pistol drawn defending her employer who is cowering behind her. He is an eccentric billionaire who is funding the expedition. Kinda reminded of "Ducktales". So, with time being the factor, I will begin with the pilot and if I am able will do her employer.

Yesss... Glad to see you are joining the adventure Jayson. An Amelia Earhart-type character would definitely be inspiring for me. I was just telling Oliver that I love the mystery around her story.

I believe basic shapes are done. Now to pick a spot and start making it more believable:

Starting the head. Played around with the sculpt and then decided to do some test airbrushing. I am hoping to combine "pretty" and "grease monkey" so the rounder face and harsher features are good, however not very flattering with the hair, so I'll square up the jaw line and see if that helps:

Ok, quick follow up. Squared out the jaw and threw it in my paint over. Thinking of dropping the hair up front. Also, is it just me or does it scream "well placed mole"?:

Sorry to keep posting head shots (hoping to move on). Face revision 3. After some major issues with the other face, I decided to start it over... and that flopped, so I did it again and am pretty content with the results. Shame about the texture limit.

I'm liking the sculpt so far. All the costume elements are awesome. My constructive critique would be that she seems like she has too much 'makeup' on(blush and lipstick). I would think a woman flying an open air plane would not wear makeup. Maybe more natural colors for the cheeks and lips (less saturated, contrast-y colors).

@Stiffler: Thanks. I ended up leaning more towards the look from the old cigarette ads and hence the more "pretty" look.

Some work on the goggles and teeth with minor adjustments to face. Hoping to finish the goggles today, then I need to really get cracking on the body:

Beginning to work on something other than the head. Hooray! Start of jacket. Still lots to do:

Okay, so what you're looking at is the low poly (still high pixilation and it will be lowered when it's all compiled). 8616 tris on head, eyes, jacket, goggles and cap, so I will come in close to the limit. Planned maps are diffuse, specular, glossiness, normal and alpha. Redid the jacket and tried a quick bake out. More emphasis on the creases is needed, plus a lot of clean up before texturing:

Moving on to some texturing to get a better idea of the final jacket. Not 100% on the sculpting yet. Also some strange things with the normal in the back:

Another jacket update. A little more refined now. Also begun play around with lighting. I budgeted one more day for the jacket, then time to move on:

Will need one more day. Still have the liner to work on. Changed up the forearm. Added threads and zipper and tried doubling the AO on jacket:

Update to gloves and scarf. Gloves are pretty much done and scarf has some work to go:

Began the pistol. I'll need to at least rough it out to get the holster and the holster to do the legs:

So almost everything is at low poly except the pistol and hair. Begin to finish the legs. Just need to sculpt in creases:

@ lotet: Thanks. Ya seems like a classy gun that suits the era. I had found a poster of "the Rocketeer" and that has been kinda the direction I wanted to go for the final. Kinda like I described in my opening post.

@ Stiffler: Thanks. Hoping to catch a hint of that "airbrushed feel"

Final animation. Tomorrow I'll get the images ready. Had a bit of issues uploading the downloaded rigged file and had to weight paint it myself to the skeleton. Kinda rushed, but all and all turned out all right. It looked good auto rigged and the auto rigger worked fine.
