For a University assignment we have been asked to create a dinosaur. I have chosen to do a mech T-Rex.
The dinosaur will be made completely from manufactured parts while attempting to maintain a similar silhouette of a T-Rex.
I took a look at some robotic animals for some ideas on joints, body styling and general aesthetics
I managed to find a similar concept idea creating a robotic version of a rhino. this explains the sort of thing I will be doing with a T-Rex.
I had some general ideas of things I could use as inspiration to help me with ideas for the project and stuff that could have similarities to what i'd like to achieve. The list may grow but for now it's things like Terminator, Iron Man, War Machine, Hawken and Transformers.
I've looked at the types of materials and equipment which may be present in the model to give it the look I want to achieve. Most of these things are just ideas and it's possible that not all of them will be involved.
Just as an idea I have looked at weaponary which could be involved, but I'm still not sure just yet
Here is a quick concept idea for the dinosaur.
I won't be sticking to this entirely and some parts may look completely different.
I started off creating a base mesh but it's still no where near finished
I moved onto the high poly for the legs
I've had a go at some sculpting for the neck area, i may do it again as i was just messing around before i went to bed.
Any helpful criticism would be much appreciated, also if you have ideas for other stuff i could use for inspiration feel free to post up a link or picture. i'll be going back and working on this further when I've finished one of my other assignments, hopefully i'll be less stuck on ideas for the body.

notice the shifting shoulder blades and hip bones on this spinosaurus Gif. That level of articulation would be sick on a robot trex when you could see all the moving part in hard surface.
The Hawken Mechs look cool. but they move like wind up toys which work with those designs but that kind of motion doesn't look good on dinosaurs.
