Maya - Dynamic hair-spline problem

Heya Polycount, I've run into this problem which I cant really find a solution to, or even a reason why it's acting like it does.

What I've done is I've tried to create a dynamic hair curve to control the movement of two ears on a characters skeleton. I did manage to follow a tutorial on how to accomplish this with the spline handle tool, but once I did it a second time the dynamic curve refused to give a similar result on the other ear.

Maybe the pictures can tell a better story than I do.

One ear goes from the template line and hangs longer from the get-go, but the other ear on the other side of the origin first goes higher before it starts to sag. Is there some way to fix this? And does someone know why one side points in a totally different way?
