maya camra faceing as vector?

does anyone know how to from python or mel get the cameras facing as a vector, i need to get it as one instead of just xyz rotational values since i need to do a dot product of it and a other vector.

With the "camera" command you can query with the "-worldCenterOfInterest" flag. If you also query the cameras position(-query -position) this should let you get the vectors you need I think.
