So this is the mech I made for the tutorial in Vertex, figured I'd post some more shots of it here. Its based of a concept by Khang Le (http://khang-le.com/) Its really high specs, around 50k tris and 4 2k textures. All the shots are from UDK. Its been awhile since I made this, kind of regret alot of things I did with it, but it was a good learning experience. Will post some highpoly renders later aswell : )
It's not often that I do a ":O whistle sound" as soon as I open a thread but your work deserved it. Good job. You may see flaws but as someone who is outside of your development eyes I see a very strong piece.
I would love to see the texture and UDK shader of your scifi gun if you would be so sweet as to share it. (this gun)
I think it comes over nicely and crisp, with good definitions. And I'm having some trouble to find the right tricks in UDK. Or maybe my texture values are off.
I've checked out the Mech shader in Vertex, and I wondered if the Gun shader is much simpler.
Not sure what you mean, but im guesing thats because of it having a cubemap that kind of warbles everything up. Should redo those renders without the cubemap. Or do you mean the first images?
Oh, yeah I messed up my smoothing for the render, thats what that is : D Turned on the wrong subdivision mode, whoops. Yet another reason to re-render. I was gonna post a wifreframe of the lowpoly, but I can only find the un-optimised one sofar, but till search some more and see if i can find it, haha : D

What's the business with the shading errors on the "knee" pieces in the previous images?
