Schell Games is currently seeking a talented 3d artist to join our current team working on projects ranging from online worlds and handheld games to themed interactive attractions. Team experience is essential as is the ability to be self-directed and be able to prioritize your workload efficiently.

Our ideal candidate will have the ability to handle both technical and artistic issues during game development as well as be able to work quickly in a team atmosphere with schedules and reliable milestone delivery. Passion for precise and visually engaging world design and the ability to reach a wide range of styles within the media are crucial.

This candidate should have previous experience working within 3D engines to utilize assets, props, effects, and lighting to build beautiful and technically efficient game spaces. In addition it is expected that they should be proficient at:
  • Working closely with the Art Director, Environment Artists and Lead Level Designer to understand and execute on both the creative and technical designs of the project. Specifically, the construction of aesthetically pleasing worlds based on Design-driven whiteboxing guidelines.
  • Work within the boundaries of the design, while maintaining and adding creativity and thoughtful aesthetic detail to the experience.
  • Actively participate in the feedback loop (both accepting and providing) within the art and level design teams, as required.
  • Multitask effectively; prioritize competing demands, and follow through on details.
Requirements
  • A portfolio that demonstrates examples of layout execution and design
  • Experience in game engine fundamentals such as performance optimization, game engine tools, shaders, and scripting
  • The ability to learn new software quickly, including Unity 3D
Desired Skills and Pluses
  • Experience with Maya, Photoshop and ZBrush highly beneficial
  • Strong 3d modeling, texturing and UV-mapping skills
  • BS/BA/BFA degree in graphic design, fine arts, animation, visual communication, or similar
  • Minimum 3 years game industry experience
