Windows wont let me choose max to open .max files

I installed the 2012 demo and didn't really like it and was irked by the chance I may need stuff to be backwards compatible.

So after installing it and uninstalling it my max files wont be set back to 2009...


Simply right clicking and doing open with literally does nothing when I choose the 3ds max 2009 exe..


this is very annoying and I havent found a fix yet other than the registry but surely thats not the only way

You've been able to do that since windows 3

However last time i had this i found that all installed versions of max show up as the same thing and that always points at the most recently installed version

Maya would do this to me also, and I fixed it with a program called wassociate.

Awhile back I figured out where i needed to go in the registry to get it to work, but I forget, so still use this program from time to time.
