I tried it out and the view displays the alpha correctly! But now I know why they have it off by default I get 10-20 fps, which makes its still unusable. I have every other setting either off or on lowest. :/

@Bek Never quite managed to do it. Blender had better vertex normal tools by the time I was about halfway done getting it built (and it's got better vertex normal tools than 10 too.) Didn't help that I had to use CentOS 5 to get a compatible plugin out of it so half of my hardware didn't even work right.
