Oh yeah i get the theory, i've rebaked normals for LOD's and created new dif/spec maps by manually transferring layers from my psd's but i've never tried the transfer maps route. I personally wouldnt put a failed art test in my folio as I feel it would give off the "this wasnt good enough for XYZ studio, why would it be good enough for us?" when a potential employer was looking at it. But I have no idea if thats what they would think, its just what I would/do think. -

I'll speak about lighting since that's what stood out to me the most. Also is this rendered? The XYZ anchors looks like it was a screenshot taken in Maya. Lighting feels flat in these shots though 2nd picture seems to be heading in the right direction though it needs work. Moreover the materials seem like they're lacking… -
