Lets stop trying to turn our history into a game and start making some alternate reality histories into a game. I would rather see a little imagination instead of XYZ war conflict turned into another video game where the selling point is how realistic (read: not fun) it is. I'm a big fan of the FPS shooters based on war,…
Sorry to necropost. this thread is linked in the polycount wiki for detail maps, and I might be able to give some help in case anyone else stumbles across this thread. http://wiki.polycount.net/Detail_Map The way I do it is to basically the method of combining normal maps in photoshop (halve the blue channel on one, set to…
My render box is not here yet and all the render nodes are busy so... To derail the thread but keep it on track I would like to offer up two theories why the PC market is lack luster and limping along. 1) We already talked about how MS raped the PC market in order to steal focus away from Sony and Nintendo. 2) Major PC…
Thanks for the info. I checked gmax and the angle snap wasn't on, it just automatically went in .5 increments, but angle snap worked in Max. I almost got the rotating on the local axis working on friday. How the code works right now is that I take the original object (an array of xyz coordinates for each vertex) and I…
We added a moss material layer to our rocks! It has some nice parameters and should allow for really fast placement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nUfysNhfmA Its xyz-worldaligned so that we can use it for nice blends between meshes. The parameters drive how much of the rock it covers, how strong the normalmap should…
ProperSquid is a genius. He is helping me take it further. I'll post the proof of his genius... So the tool does the offset thing in xyz and rotate objects by 45 degress now... I love Blender, things are just a bit messy in a way, but it has gotten ten times better since I started using seriously nine months ago. things I…
I consider myself quite experienced in this aspect :) so for once I can share some of my knowledge on PC rather then just learning. I have used many types of scanners, from laser 3d scanners, to video scanners and phometric image scanning, and established a pipeline for my studio when these are in use. Scanning will never…
This is a completely wild guess but instead of increasing the DynaMesh resolution try increasing the size of the model under Tools > Geometry > Size > XYZ Size. My thought is that at very fine resolution the algorithm is messing up, but larger size and a smaller res might change the math to work.
I began to use Spacedraw maybe 4 months ago. It's quiet puzzling to start with it when you come from Max or Blender. But when you get used to it, the interface is actually amazing. So many bright ideas in there to model with one or more fingers. My first tests really sucked. But I'm now quiet pleased with the last two…
Hi Toku, You can use the "Position" baker and select the apprioriate axis (Y) if you only need one axis. You can also bake them all (XYZ) in a RGB map. If you want to create a template, just replace your bitmaps by "Color image input" (or "Grayscale image input") nodes. You can then use your graph as a "filter", and drag…
