My FF is fully updated. I've got a lot of extensions running but no site on the interwebs crashes it except this one, so something is suspect. Also: The more I look the worse things are looking for 400 series...even the older 8000 and 9000 series run 4-6x more polygons than a way newer card such as the 470 or 480...what about a newer 500 series? Anything on that or how the 200 series does? I really don't want to pay $1-5k for a Quadro. :( More like way less. -

Yeah SCSI is definitely where it's at as far as reliability. Most SCSI drives have a 5-year warranty but they will normally last much longer than that. Fibrechannel is a great bus for large arrays but it just comes down to how fast the seek times and sustained transfers are. A single drive is a good $300-$800 so that's… -

Uniform subdivision adds tons of geo to the models in opposite to edge loops where you're adding more geo to near edges only by adding edge loops.
