I'm sure you guys have seen these around, but I thought it was fun. It's a online quiz to see if you can tell the difference between photos and 3d renders. I got 12 out of 12, bi**hes [Yes, first try]. What about you? http://area.autodesk.com/index.php/fakeorfoto/challenge/ You can click the images to enlarge them.
12/12. Some stuff like polish on woodgrain is a bitch to get in CG - especially if you can see grooves where the wood's been turned on a lathe. I looked for irregularly placed repeats, like the bears eyes. It's too tempting in CG to copy/paste exactly. 'Xtreem' (tm) use of DOF or AO is another dead giveaway.
10/12 Man, the bears have repeating patterns and that glass with ice on it looks so bland and altered in wether the camera settings or afterwards, it's confusing. I didn't find the blinds that hard, though.
11/12 I got the lightbulb wrong. The bears were tricky but I figured that an actual artist wouldn't have made the molding issues on the bear's right cheek repeat throughout the image :)
11/12 It was the lightbulb that threw me off. Although I guessed on the bears, I think that could have gone either way. I've seen the render of that tower bridge (London) in a book somewhere.
